Second watery bleed

Hello,

I’ve just completed my 5th cycle of chemo for Stage 3 Carcinosarcoma and had a watery bleed a couple of weeks ago. Despite the CNS nurses/Registrar reassuring me it was likely to do with previous Radiotherapy I insisted on an examination. All looked well and I left the appointment reassured. Today I have had another watery bleed on and off all day. I will contact the CNS nurses tomorrow morning but in the meantime I’m absolutely petrified. Are there any innocent explanations for this?

Thank you.

  • Hi Looby6

I think contacting CNS is a good plan, just so they are aware.

I would feel reassured by your consultant/CNS and the examination.

I would suggest asking for a routine blood test to see if any changes in blood levels due to the chemo may be playing a part eg; level of platelets etc.

I do remember my radiotherapist mentioning something about vaginal bleeding/discharge being possible with radiotherapy. I can't remember it being discussed with chemo.

Maybe pop an email across today to your CNS so they can get back to you for some reassurance.

My own cancer was carcinoma sarcoma and I also had chemo and radiotherapy. I know the treatments aren't easy so if there is anything you need, please do ask.

  • Hi Jane, Apologies for the delay in replying and thank you so much for your response. Yes bloods are all over the shop so that could be why. And also not uncommon, as you say, to have some discharge etc with/after Radiotherapy treatment. I’m monitoring it very closely and currently just have a smidge of daily yellow discharge. I see my Oncologist at the beginning of February so will await her response.
    Best wishes.

  • No problem.

I would still advise you to let your CNS know. They may well say it is fine to wait until your next appointment but I would recommend checking.

  • Thanks again for your advice Jane. I did contact my CNS to let them know. As it stands she said there’s no cause for concern so I guess I go with that.

Thank you Jane, you’re a godsend to this group.

  • That's reassuring that she says no cause for concern- always better to let them know if there is any doubt.
