My main/ongoing panic - my case has been referred to a specialist endo/oncology hospital where their MDT will decide whether I am able to have a hysterectomy due to the extent of my endometriosis, which is assumed to be stage 3/4. This has sent my head into freefall as I just want this womb and the 'C' out of me - has anyone been refused a hysterectomy due to the extent of their endo
Thank you
It’s great that you’ve been referred to a specialist hospital as their people will be ideally placed to make the best decision for you. I appreciate that the wait is agonising but none of us can know what they will decide, and none of us can predict or guess what their decision will be for you. Knowing if anyone else was offered other options than a hysterectomy won’t help you either, as it’s not you. When you came here and asked about whether your cancer was treatable, and if there was hope, ALL of us said yes yet it didn’t seem to reassure you at all. My advice is to keep asking your CNS about when their MDT meet, and when you will get their feedback, and in the meantime try and hold onto the fact that these guys are highly trained and extremely skilled and will do their utmost for you.
Hi Lizbot
In all the time I have spent on here as a Community Champ I have not come across anyone who has been unable to have their surgery due to endometriosis. There are some ladies on here who have not had a hysterectomy for medical reasons but they have been offered alternative treatments.
They have referred you to the specialist hospital because they are ensuring the most experienced surgeons are available to you. I am sure that they will do everything possible to work out a way to do the surgery if this is the best decision for you.
Where there is a decision like this to make it is a very individualised one based on your own medical history and all the information from your scans. Sometimes it is best to try to put your trust in them and know that they will do whatever is best for you to overcome the cancer.
