I had an episode of post menopausal bleeding and was referred as a 2ww. I had an ultrasound which identified a polyp. I attended a week later for a hysteroscopy but when the nurse identified the ‘polyp’ she didn’t think it was one and actually asked if I had a coil fitted (I don’t and never have). At this point she asked for the consultant to come in. She said there was a lot of blood in the cavity. She took biopsies but advised me that it did look abnormal (I had asked her to be honest with me). I am still waiting for results of this biopsy. One question I have is would the bleeding usually be continuous if it was cancer or could it stop and start again.
A little back history about me - I was diagnosed with rectal cancer 5 yrs ago and had surgery with no further treatment required. Also my mum was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and despite being told it was highly treatable, tumour contained within the uterus and radiotherapy - she passed away 10 months later.
I am feeling quite calm and I have already been advised that whether it is cancer or not a hysterectomy would be recommended and I have no problem with that
Hi Denise
Welcome to the Womb group.
I am sorry to hear that you have had some bleeding and are now waiting for the results of the biopsy.
For me personally I had one episode of bleeding that I attended A&E for. After that the only bleeding I had was caused by the biopsy procedure and that settled within a day.
I am sorry to hear about your previous cancer and also your Mum.
I hope that your results come back quickly and give some clarification. It sounds like a hysterectomy either way. Mine was done in 2022 and was done via keyhole. I recovered quickly.

Hi
My journey started because over a few months I would have small bleeds. I didn't know whether it was vaginal or anal blood so kind of ignored it for a while. It would only happen when going the toilet at first but then changed to bleeding for a couple of days. More like a period. That was when I became worried and went to see my GP. I am in my late 50's and post menopausal.
An ultrasound was done within a few days followed by a gynecologist visit. Endometrium 18mm thick and biopsy taken and put on progesterone tablets as I refused insertion of coil. The tablets didn't agree with me. Constantly bleeding, mood issues, ligament issues. Stopped tablets and bleeding became worse for several weeks. Went back to gynecologist several times over several months with biopsies being taken each time. Eventually diagnosed with endometrial cancer which had obviously been hiding in the thick Endometrium which had come away from the uterus.
Now awaiting a hysterectomy but due to finding bowel cancer just before hysterectomy was due I am busy having treatment for that first. So I have ended up having a coil fitted for now. Which of course has caused me to bleed.
Results for all my biopsies took 3 weeks to get back, but the one with cancer resulted in the gynecologist actually ringing me with the Results and planning the hysterectomy.
Good luck and I hope all goes well.
Hi
I've just experienced the same I had spotting just one time about 3 weeks ago wrnt to GP who then referred me for scan.i went for scan they identified polyps I was sent then for a hystercopy who removed polyps and sent them off for tests.surgeon said same polyps didn't look cancerous but I did have a thickening on my womb tests cam back last week and I was called into see consultsnt on Friday to be given the devastating news that it is cancer and that the polyps were the cancer grade 2 now waiting for a date for ct scan the possible hysterectomy.
As yours is a grade 2 cancer I should think things should happen quite quickly. The higher the grade the more urgent the need to get things moving.
Good luck. Keep us informed.
