I've just been prescribed Letrozole for my endometrial cancer (I've had a hysterectomy and radiotherapy but the post treatment scan showed two pelvic lymph nodes stil with cancer), as something that will hopefully control the cancer without resorting to chemotherapy. Reading the notes the most common use seems to be to treat breast cancer, so I wonder if anyone on these boards has experience of it being used for endometrial cancer ?
Hi Poosticks
There are several different hormone treatments that may be used for endometrial cancer.
Letrozole works for both breast and endometrial cancer by lowering levels of oestrogen in the body. Oestrogen may cause cancer growth in cancers that are affected by hormones.
It does seem more common that ladies are prescribed megace or provera but they work in a similar way by interfering with the hormone balance and reducing the effect of oestrogen on the cells.

I have come across ladies on here who have been using letrozole so hopefully someone will see you post and be able to share their experience.
