Hi
I have been diagnosed with serus carcinoma endometrial. Plan is 3 chemo then hysterectomy followed by 3 chemo.
I had first round of chemo last week Paxcitacil (hope I spelt it correctly) and carboplatin. Today day 9 I have skin rash tops of thighs and tops of arms. I’ve called chemo hotline and doctors are looking into it. Has anyone else had this side effect and if so any tips please I feel a bit uncomfortable.
Thank you.
Hi Mundesley2
I had skin rashes at times during my chemo. I also had paclitaxel and carboplatin.
I do tend to get eczema on and off so I was able to continue to use the cream I normally use. I did report the rashes to my oncologist and she said that they can happen. Mine were quite itchy at the time.
Things that helped... lose clothing, lots of moisturising- I used my eczema emolient cream and also tamanu balm from Tropic skin care. Non biological washing powder. Unscented bath/shower products. After shower I would only use a towel to gently pat myself dry gently.
I was also told that I could take an anti histamine if needed.
Sometimes people can have allergic reactions so you are doing the right thing in contacting your chemo phone line and I would advise you to call them back if anything worsens.

Thank you for replying. Noted. I’ve been told anti histamine and centraben cream. I will take on board your advice. Feels uncomfortable today. The heat yesterday may not have helped things.
The heat would likely have affected it- maybe try a soak in a luke warm bath and then just lie on a towel and the try the cetraben cream. I would sometimes use my emolient as a soap substitute.
Hi Mundesley
Yes I too had a very severe itchy red rash all over my body. I also had a very red face the first night after. On both occasions I was told to take antihistamines and prescribed emollient cream. Incidentally I had every side effect going with the same chemo. My oncologist reduced the dose the second time by 25pc and it helped a bit.
Good luck

Hi thank you that’s interesting. I’ve taken antihistamines but rash is so severe it’s not going down. Oncologist has now prescribed a short course of steroids. Hope that sorts it out. I’ve an appointment next week so I will see what she suggests going forward.
