I’ve been reading lots on this forum over the months and learning from other people’s shared experiences. I’m have 6 cycles (1every 3 weeks) altogether and so far had 2. Both times I have had the red flushed face the day after and then a very sore painful scalp, I thought on cycle 1 this was because the chemo was killing my hair follicles and my hair fell out from day 14 and was gone 90% within 3 days so I shaved the remainder off.
Cycle 2 was same red flushed face and not having hair (except some fuzz) I didn’t expect the same red, angry, sore scalp again, I was given a course of antibiotics (erythromycin) which cleared the problem. I’m wondering when I have my 3rd cycle on Friday 13th June if this is the side affect I’m prone to.
I’m very lucky that I don’t have any other side affects and my life is normal regarding all the daily routine, I sometimes have to remind myself I’m actually going through chemotherapy (Carboplatin & Paclitaxel).
Has anyone else experienced the scalp pain?
Hi
good to hear you are generally doing well with the chemo.
i had itchiness on scalp rounds 1 and 2 but not pain. I lost a lot of hair first time around, and then a little more at round 2. What I kept then I seem to have kept, and didn’t have any itchiness round 3, and none so far with 4.
good luck for round 3
