Hi - I'm now 13 days after my robot assisted full hysterectomy. I am so surprised at the speed of my recovery - and I can honestly attribute it to trust in the medics, not thinking that I was unable to do anything in time, a bit of journalling and also trying to keep thinking with a positive mindset.
It is going to take a bit of time to process things - and I'm still doing this. But my advice is to take it one day a time, little steps at a time. One of the most useful things I read on here was to remember lip salve - very useful tip. I ended up not using anything that I had packed as I was there for such a short time. I spent one night in high dependency on the day of my op and then home the next day.
I set myself little goals like get up, washed, dressed and a little make up every day. Anything else was a bonus. I do have a higher BMI so blood clots were very much on my mind - so for me, even if it is to have a 5 min walk around my small garden, do it to get the fresh air on your face.
I was extremely lucky in that I don't need any more treatment as it was caught early. But when I reflect on it, the people I met in the hospital were just amazing and have made my journey.
I've only just picked up my books/magazines to read - as was quite tired. But give yourself the time to recover.
Everyone deals with things on a different way - and there's no right or wrong. I prefer to realise that this is a journey - remember to take your friends and family with you - if you want. Someone called me a lone wolf as I was so focused on what had got happen. I think this is because I was aware that I had choices even although I didn't chose cancer. Choices and a positive mindset is my advice which has been right for me.
Good luck!
Hi - yes - two a day for two weeks. Only one day left which I’m pleased about as they can be wee but nippy! But worth their weight in gold for what they do.
