Good morning,
I think a while back after surgery, a doctor told me I could ask to see a psychologist if I am struggling. My GP wasn’t in a hurry to prescribe anti depressants so I am just wondering if anyone has any info in regard to accessing a psychologist and wait times at all please?
Thank you
Hi Beepeep
I would speak to your CNS and see if anything can be arranged through your hospital. At mine we were able to access counselling directly. There was also opportunity to access a crisis session once a week.
Your CNS or Macmillan Support worker should also be able to help with a holistic needs assessment.

If you are able to give the Support Line a call they can have a look at see if there is any support available in your area. I wonder if you have a Maggies near you?

Another option that you could start sooner, if you wanted to is the HOPE course. I did this online and found it really helpful. At my hospital the CNS team can arrange HOPE counselling directly.
