Not sure what to think

Hi,

I'm 44 and pre/ peri? Menopausal. I had what I thought was a very heavy period which went in for over two weeks. I contacted my local hospital (Liverpool women’s )  and was asked to come in. They looked after me well, I needed three units of blood (HB dropped to 69). And also had a TVS which showed thickening & a cyst. That was Tuesday , and on Friday I had a hyscopsy (SP) and a coil fitted. They also found two polys which which removed and those plus endo samples have been sent away. My consultant seemed happy but I have a bad feeling about it all.  And I’m not sure what to think.

Thanks for reading

I am sorry to hear of your bleeding and you have done the right thing in getting checked out.

I hope the transfusion has helped. I had one during treatment and it made me feel a lot better within a couple of days.

What has happened to you if what I would expect to happen normally. You've had a scan that showed some hyperplasia (thickening) and the cyst and so they have taken a more thorough look with the hysteroscopy. It is normal for them to biopsy the lining and to remove the polyps.

The hyperplasia can have different causes. Some hyperplasia can improve on its own and needs no treatment. There is another type that can be more concerning and have the potential to become cancer in the future in some ladies. That would need treatment. Polyps are normally removed to be checked and can be non cancerous or contain some cancer.

So it does sound like what has happened is the normal process and that they are being thorough in ruling out any cancer.

Hopefully you will have your results soon but in the meantime we are here if you need us.

    Jane
