Had a CT guided lung biopsy to check for lung mets because I had a new nodule that grew 35% in three months.
The results came back in my portal...says they didn't find malignancy but the comments below say
"Clinical and radiologic correlation is required to ensure representative sampling of the targeted lesion"
Has anyone had this on their results ?
Hi Nit.Thu57
I am sorry to hear that you had to have a lung biopsy.
With medical reports it may be worth speaking to one of the nurses on the Support Line or posting in the Ask a Nurse section.
Through my experience on here I would read it as they took the sample and no cancer was found in it- however they advise the doctor who ordered the test to look at the whole clinical picture around you to make the best judgement about next steps.
I would expect the consultant to speak to you to explain in more detail what may happen now and I would expect that it would be a further scan in a few months to monitor any changes and advice to contact them if there are any concerning symptoms.
That would be my understanding of clinical and radiological correlation- to put the information together and to look at the whole picture- the clinician has all the facts- the biopsy is just checking for the presence of cancer cells in one place- if that makes sense.
But do ask your CNS/Doctor to explain.
Jane
