Hi everyone!
Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself as i've just had a full radical hysterectomy a few days ago due to a cancerous tumour that filled my womb!
It's been a rollercoaster journey to say the least! I'm 44 and just thought i was in peri-menopause, turns out it wasn't quite that simple! My cancer was found in the end by me seeing a menopause specialist who said... hang on these symptoms arnt normal and sent me for a 2 week rule!
Anyone else had a similar experience?! Would love to chat with anyone going through similar stuff... xxx
Hi heartonmysleeve44
Welcome to the Womb group.
I am sorry to hear of your endometrial cancer.
I hope that you are recovering from your hysterectomy and are getting a chance to rest at home. It can all feel a bit of a roller coaster and then it seems like the first chance you have to think about it when you are at home recovering.
I hope that you do not have to wait too long for your post op results and to see whether you need any follow up treatment. Mine came back at around 3 1/2 weeks but it can vary.
If there is anything you want to ask about, please do so. There are lots of lovely ladies on here who will want to offer you support as we have all been in similar situations.
My hysterectomy was in April 2022 and I had some follow up treatment. I am now 2 1/2 years post treatment and doing ok.
We do have a Support Line if you feel like talking it all through would help. The number is at the end of this.
I wish you well for your recovery and in the meantime, we are here if you need us.
Jane
Hi heartonmysleeve44
Welcome to the rollercoaster world, even if you didn’t want to be here.
Hope you are recovering well from your hysterectomy, and taking care of yourself.
My cancer was found following a post menopause bleed, was quite large in womb and a few cells had spread to one of my ovaries. This forum has been been invaluable to me, as I navigated my way through each stage of my journey, from pre op testing, op and now further treatment. The support from everyone is amazing so ask away.
hope you don’t have to wait too long for post op results.
take care
aww hey and thank you so much for the quick rasponse! Yeah i'm hoping i can finally get some info now it's all out lol... there was a lot going on in there that i didn't know about for some time!
My tumour was 10cm in jan on my mri but by the time it came out last week it had grown another 5 centimeters. There were also fibroids, a blocked ovary and ovarian cysts. My surgeon thinks in was all out but my main concern was whether it had spread to the ovaries and lymph nodes. I was originally diagnosed with cervical cancer as i was in a lot of pain for investigations, so they put me under to do biopsies and deep investigations.
Turns out my tumour was just filling the space and filling my cervix at the same time! By last week i was getting a lot of nausea, inability to eat, bladder issues and hip pain... i was very relieved they mananged to pull my date forward... i was originally due in next monday, but to be honest i was really starting to feel rough!
Anyway, it's out now and off to the lab! Time to find out more! I don't really know anyone who has this type of cancer so the forum seems like the best place to start! ️
Just wanted to send you a big hug and say you got this. You sound an upbeat person from your post and whatever you have to face just take it one day at a time.
Awww thank you so much! I'm finding every day is a different challenge but i'm just gonna take it one day at a time for sure, thank you
Hello Heartonmysleeve44.
Just wanted to wish you well for your recovery. Sounds as if you've had a lot to process . Well done for sounding so upbeat. I have an appointment to get MRI results this afternoon. Your post has inspired me to stop being such a wimp about it!
Hi heartonmysleeve44 and welcome to the club none of us wanted to be in. I can only echo what others have said, this forum has been my lifeline.
I hope that your recovery from a hysterectomy goes well and you manage to rest up.
