Today is my post op checkup after my keyhole hysterectomy, all baby making bits removed including cervix. What should I expect at this check up?
tummy pressing?
internal check (fingers or camera)?
I also have lists of questions that I’ve written down now as my mind goes blank when I’m sat in a chair and they say ‘any questions’
Hi KeswickC
I hope that you are recovering ok.
My post op check was combined with my chemo consents appointment.
It was all talking apart from a quick look at my wounds on my tummy to check they were healed. There was no other examination.
Good idea to take a list- I am the same.
I would expect today to be a quick chat about how you are recovering, confirming stage and grade and any post op information and talking about what happens next. If you need further treatment it will go into detail about this. If you don't then I would expect it to be about what check ups you need and when.
I had no physical checks until my end of treatment check up that was after radiotherapy finished.
There can sometimes be some variation between hospitals.
Good Luck
Jane
Hi Runner
This link tells you about the CNS 3 month checks.

At my post op keyhole surgery appointment , the consultant checked the external stitching site then then checked vagina stitching site . Told me they were OK. Then said 10 external radiation treatments planned , ( that was wrong as it was 25 when I saw the oncologist a week later) . Currently ok just got an appointment with oncologist in 2 weeks .
I’m being treated in Canada, so things differ from the UK. I had a quick internal exam when I saw the oncologist to discuss chemo. Her Physician Assistant did a quick internal exam and checked the 5 small incisions from the robotic surgery. All was healing well. At that time, I told her I did not want radiotherapy and we discussed a clinical trial instead. Unfortunately funding was pulled from that clinical trial for new people who did not do radiotherapy. I am now in the midst of radiotherapy for serous carcinoma.
