I had mirena coil inserted on 27 February this year. Alongwith it I was on Provera 600mg. I had terrible cramps in the week following the insertion. The doctor decreased the dose of Provera back to 400mg as my body was not able to cope with 600mg. I had serious side effects with 600mg. So now I am on 400mg and mirena coil inserted. Waiting for positive news in my next biopsy as the one I had last didnt show that my body was reacting to Provera.
I am feeling better now that the dose has been decreased but ofcourse I have my bad days where I have extreme anxiety, mood swings and feeling emotional. Also, the bleeding has not stopped completely. That keeps me worried that my body is not reacting to the medicine. Fingers crossed and praying for a miracle now!
Hi Letap
Glad that you are feeling a bit better on the lower dose.
Am sorry that you are having some bad days but the anxiety, mood swings and feeling emotional are normal in the circumstances. If you need to talk things through then do give the Support Line a call.
I hope that your next biopsy brings some positive news, in the meantime we are here if you need us.

I have had a Mirena in since last October - over 5 months and also felt emotional for a while after it was fitted. It's the progesterone mainly - similar to the surge you might get just before a period! The moods swings balance out after a while though and I hardly know the coil is there most days now. The bleeding can be that the thickened lining is thinning down, which is a good thing and shows that the coil is actually working. I was told that there would be bleeding for a while and that's nothing to worry unduly about. Stick with it, it gets better over time....
There is a slight problem with weight gain on the coil too lol! Some people have increased appetite. This has happened with me too, so you are not alone.
I lost almost 2 stone but put half back on after a few months on the coil, so I am struggling now to reset. It's a real issue but not insurmountable. I am now trying the low carb way, rather than shakes etc...as at least it's real food. Good wishes!
