I thought I would give an update now that I’m one week post op. I found the first few days quite hard particularly as I couldn’t sleep , I have to admit I would have been more than happy to have had a couple more days care in the hospital particularly as I was discharged on a Friday and felt a bit adrift at sea as it was the weekend and only contact numbers point you to A&E with any problems . 47 hours after discharge I went down with a cold ( I wonder where I caught that ) and have spent the week sniffling and sneezing . Have to use a cushion to brace when I get a sneezing fit , not nice.
Lactulose has got bowels functioning but the flatulence has been painful and toxic!!!
I have managed a couple of short walks in the garden although it’s perishing cold here at the moment . So I’m waking around the house up and down stairs etc .
I am back on my prescription blood thinners so no tummy injections and no compression socks after the first 48 hours so all the more reason to keep active .
4 wounds in tummy seem fine but still have waterproof dressings on ( advised to leave them at least 10 days ) bruising on tummy now every shade from purple to yellow . if I do too much I get very lightheaded , don’t know if that is a normal side effect.
Im keeping positive and taking one day at a time , and probably consuming far too much chocolate ? Need to get healthy eating back on track next week .
This Forum has been my go to place daily , Thank-you one and all
