Just curious how many have had mets to the lungs.
I had a CT scan in December which showed a new 6mm solid nodule in the middle lobe. I had a follow up scan last week and it has grown to 1 cm and is slightly spiculated.
They are giving me an option to have it biopsied, so I need to let them know if I wish to.
Hi Nit.Thu57
There have been ladies on here who have posted about lung mets in the time I have been on here. I can remember some ladies being offered chemotherapy.
From my understanding they normally do several scans over time to look for changes. Sometimes nodules can be caused by infections/inflammation. If they are then they would would likely resolve with time.
The biopsy would be the only way in telling for sure whether there is cancer or not and whether it is connected to the endometrial cancer or not.
I wonder if it would be worth giving the Support Line a call and talking to one of the nurses to help make the decision that is best for you. They would also know about the procedure.
Jane
Hi i had my hysterectomy last September and they found multiple lung nodules/small tumours on a CT scan at the same time. They gave a diagnosis of lung mets from the womb even though the womb cancer was Stage 1b Grade 1; we had some pretty difficult and tearful meetings i will admit, and i had to push for my brachytherapy etc to be completed. Given the diagnosis of mets, they strongly advised a biopsy to enable the right treatment decisions - the CT guided biopsy failed to get a sample, so i had a lung wedge resection which removed one of the larger tumours at new year. I am glad they did this - it turned out that i have neuroendocrine cancer in the lungs plus an underlying pre cancer condition across both lungs, and these are separate to my womb cancer. I am now on a 6monthly wait and scan regime with a whole body scan cycle plus various other regular tests and some mgt meds. So Jane is right re the scanning regime but for my hospital it would be recommended after a biopsy if stage 4 is suspected; given your nodule has grown in 2-3months personally i would go for the biopsy. The oncologist was very good at explaining even at stage 4, a lung nodule of that size had treatment options including hormone therapy and of course if they remove it with a surgical biopsy that might be the majority of treatment done if its a single nodule). The biopsy was going to be critical to choosing the right treatment - i am not sure how they would decide for the best without it but maybe they can
Its a very personal choice and i wish you the best in deciding, but hopefully this gives you a little more info on what its like to go through - losing a wedge of lung was ok recovery wise as these things go, although that and a hysterectomy and brachytherapy between sept and jan was pretty heavy duty
