I can't keep up with the rate things change! Had a phonecall today and after reviewing my MRI results (not that it appears to have spread or anything), the team have said they do not see the point in putting me through the hysteroscopy, removal of womb lining, removal of polyp and coil insertion on 17th March to then do the hysterectomy in a couple of months time once I've lost some weight so they want to just go straight ahead with the surgery, which has been provisionally booked in for the 25th March . That makes absolute sense, the hysteroscopy isn't going to change the outcome of the treatment, but I'm in shock and very emotional. Everything has just happened so quickly (which I'm grateful for, but it's just a whirlwind and a rollercoaster at the same time).
Hi StarsandSky
I can understand that it must feel like a rollercoaster of emotions but it does seem to be the best option. As you say the hysteroscopy isn't going to change the outcome. If you are going to have the hysterectomy anyway it seems better to go straight to it.
Just think, in two weeks time it will have been done and you will hopefully be back home to recover. In a months time you should be feeling loads better.
It also gives you just enough time to get everything ready before you go in. I remember doing a big tidy up, sorting shopping to be delivered and I also set up some bits and pieces down stairs ready. I also bought a few bits and pieces for when I was in hospital and a few comfy clothes for when I got home. I found lose comfy clothes best and nothing tight around waist. I also bought one of those v shaped cushions that I found helped me sit and sleep more comfortably.
I wish you well for the 25th and in the meantime we are here if you need anything.
Jane
Hi …that’s quite advanced notice compared to me! I had appointment for results on a Friday morning, they told me they had a cancellation on the Monday, and had already sorted out pre assessment for that afternoon.
it does make absolute sense for you to go straight to hysterectomy, and hopefully when this news has settled in, you can prepare yourself and hopefully will be less in shock. Wishing you well at this whirlwind time
