Endometrial Resection - removal of womb lining

I have received my letter following the meeting with the gynaeoncologist and there is one part that I do not recall being discussed (granted, it was a lot of information to take on board). He says that we discussed that during the hysteroscopy (which is booked in for Monday) I would have an endometrial resection, removal of the womb lining and this would allow them to be certain of the pathology.

I don't know if I have misunderstood but from a previous conversation with a gynae on the phone, she said I would have a possible polypectomy for the suspected polyp (or fibroid equivilant) and from what I recall from the meeting with him was that there would be another biopsy during the hysteroscopy.

As I understand it, if my womb lining is removed, there is very little chance of it growing back (meaning my ability to have children would end then). I know the plan is very likely for me to have a hysterectomy anyway but I am stressed and panicking as I don't feel emotionally prepared for my womb lining to be removed on Monday. I have responded to the email containing the letter, asking further questions.

It can always feel a bit of a shock when something is suggested that you are not expecting. It is good that you have replied to the email and asked further questions. Hopefully they will respond quickly and be able to offer some clarification and reassurance.

While you are waiting for them to reply, why not give the Support Line a call and talk things through.
