Well I am feeling medically fab from week 1 when I was in so much pain and  feeling like I was rolling on barbed wire to week 4 and stitches mostly gone and no pain externally at the wounds...today is a day I have waited for, the last blood thinner injection my thighs and me have had enough poor hubby is quite traumatised giving them to me so he is even more relieved.

Inside isn't painful but by the end of the day I do feel a bit tender but its less and less, I have had no blood loss or discharge at all since the Op as well so I can only think that's to come or I have been incredibly lucky.

I spoke with the Surgeon last week and he confirmed the cancer had not spread outside the womb which was fantastic news , today my lovely Cancer Nurse phoned me for a check in on how I was feeling after the call and she has told me that the Radiotherapy the surgeon discussed was Brachytherapy and this would be 3 sessions possibly done over 1 week... the best outcome regarding adjuvant treatment for me as with it being a grade 3 tumor I was worried about more than that but there was no spread to the Lymph nodes.- Update I have been downgraded to a Grade 2 ..never been as happy for a downgrade.!

So other than another menopause to negotiate , really bad night sweats, and weary /teary I am all good and feel I can start to get my head around being Cancer free... I will never forget the last 4 months they have been the worst time in my life and I have learnt such a lot about myself , about Cancer, about how amazing my family and friend's have been and mostly how amazing this group and everyone on it has been ..

I will update on the Brachytherapy and how it was /goes for me it may hopefully help someone in the future and the same for my Lynch syndrome and Genealogy clinic appointment which is in August

Dec 24 To March 25 I cannot fault my GP, the team I have at Liverpool Women's, My Macmillan nurse and this group and wherever each of us is on our journey its comforting to know that any questions , concerns, worries and good news can be shared here and for anyone at the start of their Journey it is scary but you are not alone, try not to use Dr Google or you will disappear down a rabbit hole of information that may not be relevant .

  • Hi I’m at the same stage as you. Last injection is tonight thank goodness.
put jeans on for the first time today for a few hours as a bit tender still. I have one wound still where I can feel the stitch  a little bit but all others good.
I heard last week that I don’t need any further treatment so that was a relief.

now to plan to get back to work once I feel physically and emotionally able. I am a nurse doing 11 hr shifts so I’m not rushing back

  • Hi Linda O and Runner54

i so remember the last night of those injections, so can understand your relief, and good news re the no treatment and the Brachytherapy treatment. Good luck with your recoveries from the op.

  • Hi Linda O, it’s good to hear from you. My hysterectomy was in January 2022 and I too had no blood loss post op or since (I think many/most don’t tbh). I had bought sanitary pads pre op and ended up donating them to a Ukraine appeal! I do feel for you and your husband re the injections - makes me even more glad that I chose to decline them! I knew I couldn’t do them to myself and didn’t want my husband having to do them to do them for me either. I hope your treatment goes well and recovery continues well.

  • I am retired so lucky to be able to take my time you definitely do not want to rush back before you are 100% that includes emotionally.

  • I’m lucky in that I work for the NHS so yes I’m taking 10 weeks and then will phase my return. I think In some ways the emotional side is inky just hitting me. Before that it’s a constant wave of tests and waiting for results. Now that is over it’s like let me take a breath and let it all sink in

  • Hi Linda O

Good news that you are feeling so good after your surgery.

  • So happy for you and I am looking forward to that coffee and cake in Costa del Speke :-)

  • I’ve been absent from Costa del Nottingham so long they have sent me 30% off lol

    I shall be heading there

  • Hopefully not long until I get dates for Clatterbrige and then we can definitely book our cake and coffee meet in Heart️
