Good Evening you lovely people!
I hope you are all getting on alright Hugging

So I am 3 wks post op!
so days it’s flown by, others it’s dragged!
Being at home and not being able to do what I normally do it hard!

Friday 14th February I went in to hospital, had to be there for 7.15am! Pensive

Arrived at 7am, I checked in and was shown to my bed on the ward, my husband was NOT allowed to be with me on the ward until visiting which was at 11am

I sat on the chair at the side of my bed just watching as the ward was very busy, a Dr came and gave me a sick note for 6weeks!! 6 weeks without working!?! How on earth am I going to cope!! Rofl

Then I had lots of other Drs come round and chat with me, everyone was getting changed and in to the backless nighties.. bums are out!!

My surgeon came next to chat with me, he was lovely and answered all my questions, I asked him when I would be going down.. 1/2pm the time wasn’t even 10am! Wow that’s a long wait!!
like I said the ward was busy with all different drs coming to see others.
11am arrived and I was really pleased to see my husband ( who has bowel cancer and isn’t well at all) but seeing him made me feel better.
1.50pm my name was called… holy Poop its my turn!!
off I walked down the corridors to the theatre, this was not my normal walk to the theatre Performing arts

when I got in the little room I got all overwhelmed and started crying Cry, two guys trying to get my IV in, a good looking guy above me giving me oxygen, a lovely lady sticking stickers on my chest!
they started by giving me something to relax me, the ceiling was moving, and then they gave me the good stuff… then I was out and the next thing I knew was I was being woke up!
I got wheeled back to my ward and I was met by my husband x Who had been sitting about from 2pm till 7pm when I arrived back!!

I didn’t sleep much that night as the nurses where either doing my obs or someone else’s. The gas pain was unbearable, in my shoulder and deep in my bladder!

I have nothing left now, they look everything!

No more smears!

No more bleeding!

No more periods!

No more CANCER!

I have my 4 week post of appointment on the 13th March, and they will have my results of the histology report, I’m hoping I don’t require any chemo or radiotherapy- my fingers are crossed!Fingers crossed

I used to suffer from migraines, have been for a long time, but I wasn’t getting them much, but since having the operation I am having them nearly every other day and they are killing me!!! Making me very tired, and the headaches are awful.

Has anyone else suffered with them, and if so what did your Dr give you? I am not on anything for HRT as yet, I’m hoping on the 13th I will be given something and hopefully this will help the migraines..

Im Not really wanting Estrogen as it’s says it can bring on breast cancer and my mum had that and I have tests every year x

Any advice would be greatly welcomed x

Hope you are all getting on with your own journeys x

sending you lots of love

  • Hi WaltD, well done for having had your op. Have you phoned your ward or your CNS about the headaches?

  • I’m really sorry as can’t offer any help re the headaches, but wanted to say your post brought a smile to my face, “not my normal walk to theatre”..love it…I found that walk quite bizarre, but not as bizarre as having to have an ambulance ride soon after being in recovery room, to get me to ward! Only 3 months ago but it seems so far in the past now. Hope you get a solution to your headaches and good luck on 13th

  • Hello WaltD

I hope that your appointment next week goes well.

With the migraines/headaches I have these- both before and after cancer.

It is something to talk to the hospital about though. These are frequent and post surgery so worth giving them a call. They may be able to prescribe something to prevent them while you recover.

I had quite a bad headache after the surgery and my consultant says it can sometimes be partly due to the position they put us in for surgery (head down), sometimes anaesthetic, and sometimes the stress of the diagnosis and surgery. I was told most will go with plenty of rest, fluids and time.

I wonder also if there is a hormonal element with the level of oestrogen dropping post surgery. I know that I used to often get them around period time so there could be a link.

I hope they settle soon and I wish you well with your continued recovery.

    Jane

  • Thank you for your reply Hugging

I have phoned them and they have said I have to wait till I see my surgeon on the 13th. Just hope he can help x as I’m not sure I can work with them x

  • Hiya!
thank you for your reply x Hugging

I have had migraines since I started my period! But as I have got older, they have been more manageable and not as often!
but since the op they have been the worst they have ever been x

Will see what surgeon says on the 13th. I have kept a migraine diary!
