Operation

I am 'lucky' to have stage 2 womb cancer but I worry with my operation because my body doesn't cope well with stitches. Last time I had an op was for open heart surgery where I had multiple issues and nearly died. Post op. I am a little stressed shall we say and the Gynae team are not easing these anxieties.

  • Hi Deeceecat, forgive me, I can’t remember if you’re due to have laparoscopic/robotic surgery or open surgery? One of the things that I found reassuring pre-surgery was reminding myself that, though the op was a big deal for me, it was the norm for them and something run of the mill that my surgeon did several times a week, often daily!

  • Hey Marmite, they said laparoscopic. Thank you for all your support, I am just in a lot of pain and very uncomfortable too. Xxxxx

  • The hospital don't know what Thier doing. Inviting me for appointments I've already attended and the oncologist Gynae asked me more questions about my health than I asked him about my treatment. Let's say I am not feeling full of confidence.

    • Hi Deeceecat, Not sure if this helps, but it was a little disorganised for me, ( I had the opposite meant to have an appointment only no one had arranged it, turned up for an appointment and reception couldn’t  find it) and I was having run-ins with my support nurse in the period prior to my op, who was making things worse for me. This all changed for me once I saw the team at my pre op and also surgeon, and everyone since then has been fantastic, and my confidence in everyone - well bar the nurse- is very high.  As Marmitefan says the surgeon does these several times as week/day. I had full blown cut me open from above belly button down, and apart from feeling woozy the next day, affects of GA plus lack of sleep/food, I recovered really well and quickly. Your recovery from laparoscopic should be quicker.
    • Do you have long to wait? Wishing you all the best.
