Hi.
Is anyone being treated with Provera (progesterone)?
I have been on it at 200mg for just over two weeks. On Tuesday I started to have cramping, pelvic pain . This continued on Wednesday. On Thursday afternoon I had acute pelvic pain, cramping and a lot of pressure along with a mild bleeding. It took to 1am for it to fully subside.
I spoke to the CNS and she said this can happen with this meditation. Hopefully it will settle down.
The same thing has happened today.
Has anyone else experience this? How long before I settled down?
Hi, I don't know about Provera - I think this is an oral tablet of Progesterone. I am on hormone treatment too - via a Mirena coil, which is progesterone treatment directly inside the womb.
When I had the coil fitted, I did have some cramps until things settled down. They lasted a few days. Sometimes it's just your body adjusting to the medication, whether it's tablets or a coil. In my case, the bleeding lasted on and off for a couple of months - as it was supposed to thin the lining of the womb, so in your case - both these things might be considered normal. I assume the lining of your womb was probably thickened, but please advise.
As your CNS has said, these symptoms are generally normal, as the hormone will thin the lining, which creates kind of period symptoms for a while. I expect it will settle, as your team has advised but if things get worse you could always revert back to them for further advice. In my case I just rode it out and I've had this treatment now for almost 4 months and am just fine.
Hi LolaBear
Thank you.
Yes this is an oral medication. I was going to gave the coil fitted but up on examination this could not happen during to thickness and a large polyp.
I'll ride it out and when I go into hospital next week for a second biopsy and hysteroscope ill have a chat with the team if no better.
That's a good idea. I had a polyp and thickness too, but still had the coil fitted. How thick was your lining? Mine was 14mm to start but later measured at 10mm. The coil is good for thinning the lining. I am glad I had the coil fitted now. I was really scared to start with but I don't even know it's there now! Good luck next week with your hysteroscopy. I always have local anaesthetic and gas & air with mine, as I have a low pain threshold lol!
Hi
My lining thickness was11mm on my scan. When being told I had cancer the consultant draw what was happening and the polyp is a large one taking up the majority of what space there is.
It's not been discussed but it might be when the polyp is removed they may try fitting it as that was the orginal plan.
I totally get the pain threshold bless ya. I've always throught of having a high pain threshold but when they took the first biopsy for me I throught I was about to be sick and felt sick for a little while hile after. I know a few on the forming have said it's like a labour contraction, I've not had children due to infertility so have nothing to compare it too but I'm liking the sound of gas and air being available lol!
Hi i am currently taking provera however only 30mg. I have had some bleeding that lasted just under a week and I do experience cramping that comes and goes. I have used this medication a couple of times previous and also experienced these symptoms so do think it's pretty normal.
I had a appointment yesterday with my gyno and I did ask about this as I was slightly worried about it he said it was fine and nothing to worry about, he was not concerned about it at all.
It has been a horrible medication for me though and I've been experiencing low moods and seem to get very irritable which I was also told is normal as it is hormonal. so I hope you are coping well with it.
Bless ya Missaurora I hope you too will find this will settle for you too
I'm going to see how I go this week and then have a chat with the consultant next Monday if no better.
