  • Hello Superwomen

    Welcome to the Womb group.

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of endometrial cancer.

It does sound promising that you have had a provisional diagnosis of it being low grade.

The scan will be to provisionally stage the cancer- to see exactly where it is in the body.

My cancer was staged by a CT scan with contrast. Some hospitals use MRI scans and some use both. It just depends on the hospital.

it is good that the surgery is planned for mid January and not too far ahead. I understand the need to make plans with work. If it helps, mine was done laparoscopically and I recovered quickly from the surgery. I was in hospital one night. It was a case of taking things easy and not lifting anything too heavy. I was able to walk around within a few hours of surgery, could walk around my garden on the day I came home and was able to have daily walks after that. I had little pain.

After the surgery, what normally happens is that everything removed is sent to pathology. That will then give a final confirmed stage and grade and it is this information that decides whether any further treatment is needed. For some ladies the surgery alone is enough. For me it was chemo and then radiotherapy. My results came through 3 1/2 weeks post surgery.

If you click on my name my profile will come up and you might find at some point to put a little on yours. There is no pressure to do so but it does help when posting on here as people know which part of the journey you are on.

I hope this helps a bit, if there is anything you want to ask, please do so.
