Ongoing discharge

I’m 3 weeks today post laparoscopic hysterectomy. Recovering well and due to get catheter out tomorrow which is was left in due to a bladder injury during surgery.

I’ve been assessed as stage 3b and am awaiting a CT scan before my treatment plan is made. In the meantime I’m still experiencing a pink discharge which does not appear to be diminishing. The reason I went to my GP originally back in August was because of a watery discharge.

Am I worrying too much about the fact the current discharge doesn’t appear to be lightening up or is it still early days. To be honest I’m worrying about everything especially about what’s going on inside me whilst I wait for treatment to start.

  • Hi EP17

I can understand why you are worried and in need of some reassurance.

I think the best person to contact would be your CNS. Also on your discharge paperwork there should be some information about what could be expected post surgery and who to contact. It is still early days after your hysterectomy and I was told that some bleeding or discharge could be experienced. I did not have this myself but I do know of others on here who have had some post surgery. You could also mention it tomorrow when you have the catheter removed. I wonder if it could be anything to do with irritation from having it in for a prolonged amount of time?

You could also give the Support Line a quick call and speak to one of the nurses. I have found they are really helpful on there and lovely people. Rather than worry about something maybe give them a quick call and have your mind put at rest.

I wish you well for your continued recovery and if there is anything you need, you know where we are.

    Jane

  • Hi Jane. It never entered my head about contacting the CNS. I’ve only thought about her for when the treatment starts.

I will contact her and see what she says.

    Thanks again

  • I had a phone number for mine but on the discharge paperwork there was also an email address. Mine never minded being contacted
