What has everyone found to be the best option for treating constipation after laproscopic hysterectomy (8 days ago) .  I have been alternating between senakot and lacutulase .  I whilst  have managed to have a bowel movement I am still feeling  constipation and its not easy.

Any good proven tips

I never thought Id be speaking about this on an open forum RoflRoflRoflRoflRofl

  • Hi Liverpoollou

Perhaps give your CNS a call. Or even GP. You could also give the Support Line a quick call and ask one of the nurses.

Stool softeners were suggested by mine and helped. I found moving around helped and also fruit juice.

  • After my op, I tended to just eat protein and fruit till my bowels were back to normal, and avoided starchy carbs. How much walking are you doing each day? I agree with Jane that exercise will help.

  • Thank you. Doing the walking about 20 mins plus short walks round the house each day now.(8 days since op): will increase it

  • Hey Liverpoollou, loving the name bye the way hahaha,, any how I drank plenty of water which was warm as I felt it helped more for some reason but that might just be me and my thoughts eat lots fruit such as grapes blueberries raspberries and oranges which I can't eat as I have a allergic reaction to, also try to and generally moved about which I felt really helpful and still do as I am disabled and movement is quite hard as becoming sedentary does not help and I am on a tone of meds for pain and BP plus trying not to stress over it as it just makes the situation worse plus remember " do not site stressing on the bathroom pan as you will just hurt yourself.

    Good luck with your recovery

  • Thank you . More fruit seems to be the top tip. Thanks everyone.
