Hi started with a water infection last week second lot of antibiotics results on Friday wondering if treatment would be delayed

  • Hi Alibongo

Am sorry to hear that you have a UTI. Hopefully the right antibiotics should clear it.

What normally happens with treatment is that once all the test results from the scans etc are in, they are discussed at a Multi Disciplinary team meeting. At my hospital these are held once a week and all patients are discussed one by one.

After this,  I would expect you to be called in for an appointment to discuss a treatment plan. For most ladies on here a hysterectomy would be the next step. There are exceptions but on the whole surgery, where possible is the first treatment. Sometimes this is followed up with other treatments, depending on stage and grade.

Before a hysterectomy would happen you would have a routine pre op assessment- bloods, height, weight, blood pressure, ECG etc. So hopefully your UTI should be cleared up by then and treatment won't be delayed.

I had a UTI during chemo and my next chemo still went ahead as planned. If you already had a surgery date for the next few days, then the UTI may possibly delay it- but I would hope that you should be fine by then.

My hysterectomy was a month after my bleed. It took a while to get all the results in but once they were things did move quickly. I first saw the consultant on the Friday am, had my pre op testing on the Friday pm. Surgery was on the Monday.

  • Hi jane I have been told it's grade 3 and a rare cancer hope it's not gone into my bladder just so worried x

  • I can understand that and its easy to attribute any symptoms to the cancer, however it may well just be a simple UTI. Try not to worry too much.
