Hi just wondering as anyone had serous carcinoma I am really worried
Hi Alibongo
There have been several ladies on here that I can remember having serous carcinoma.
It is a similar type to mine. Endometrial cancers are divided into type 1 and type 2.
We both have a type 2 endometrial cancer. The treatment is on the whole the same but tend to need some follow up treatment after surgery. This does not happen in all cases and there are other genetic factors that are considered.
It is worrying to be told that you have one of the grade 3 cancers but the stage of the cancer is an important factor. Although the grade 3 ones can tend to behave more aggressively it does not mean that they can not be successfully treated when found at an early stage. The follow up treatment is usually done to mop up any stray cells, which can, in some ladies, given time, could potentially set up elsewhere. It does not mean this will definitely happen, but that they are trying to reduce the chances of any recurrence.
I had a similar type 2 cancer and am doing well as 2 years post treatment. My initial surgery was April 2022. I have had regular check ups every 12 weeks since treatment finished.

Hi Alibongo1402
I was diagnosed with Serous endometrial cancer in March 2022. I had a total hysterectomy and many lymph nodes removed, followed by six rounds of chemotherapy and four sessions of brachytherapy. I did not have any external radiotherapy. It was Stage 3c. My Consultant told me Serous is a more aggressive type of womb cancer but it is treatable, however, the treatment is more intensive.
Two years on, I am well. I had another check up 2 weeks ago which was fine and I have another CT scan scheduled for the New Year. My main issue at the moment is that I’m waiting for a hip replacement which is another story!
I hope my experience will give you some comfort and please feel free to look at my profile which goes into more detail. Let us know how you progress. xxx
Thank you lots of information can I ask did you loose weight before diagnosed
I lost a bit of weight but I think that was because I was worried what was going to happen. When I’m worried my appetite disappears!
Waiting on stage but really worried it's spread I have had no symptoms on weight loss and no appetite xx
You don't realise how much your reply means - All the way along I have been told mine is very aggressive and highly likely to return- At first I thought I am going to be dead next year but through these forums and getting more information- knowledge is the key but it is so reassuring that 2 years down the line everything can be fine. THANK YOU
HiAlibongo1402 I was diagnosed with Grade 3 Serous/clear cell endometrial cancer in March 2022 - if you click on my name I have my bio on there - I was staged at 2 before my hysterectomy as it had migrated to the top of my cervix and that remained the same post op. I had everything thrown at me as adjuvant treatment, 5 weeks of chemoradiation ( chemo and radiotherapy at the same time ) then 3 sessions of Brachytherapy. It was a whirlwind year but I came out the other side and am now on 6 month follow ups and feeling really well - my advice is trust your cancer team, don’t google, stay positive and don’t think about what ifs - take each day as it comes and you’ll get there - best wishes Chrissie xx
Just worried I am losing weight no appetite praying it as spread x
