Hi all, Had a vertical incision and it’s 6 weeks since my op. Having to visit doctors every day for wound dressing with District Nurse coming at the weekends. I am feeling really well in myself with no pain but my wound is still leaking daily. Was treated last week for infection as blood pressure was low and blood test showed high infection in my body. Nurse took a swab a couple of days ago but waiting for results. Has anyone else had a wound that leaked for as long? Went to a family do yesterday evening and it was my first outing since before my op, apart from GP and hospital as by evening it more often than not leaks through the dressing and I have to use sanitary pads to stop it going onto my clothes. It just feels never ending.
Sue.
Hi Sue
I am sorry to hear that your wound is still leaking. It sounds like you are doing everything that's needed and hopefully it should start healing soon. I would imagine the wound swab is to identify the exact bacteria so they can prescribe the most effective antibiotic. Once they know what it is then hopefully it would take effect quickly.
I do feel for you, it must be really frustrating for it to be persisting like this. Am glad you were feeling well enough to go to your family do yesterday evening.

Hi Sue, I hope everything gets better for you soon , it is enough to deal with having the operation but this what you are going through on top is not nice , I was lucky to have the robot and all is ok but still not heard anything about histology results yet and it's been 5 weeks yesterday, pulled my back out last week , so been in a bit of pain from that but I am used to it has I had a slipped disc many years ago so the least thing now sets it off, anyway thinking about you hope everything is resolved soon take care, Gloria. X
Hi Gloria, Still having to have my wound dressed daily but nurses say it’s not leaking as much as it was. So sorry to hear you’re in pain from your back. Hope it eases soon. It must be so frustrating not to have had your results yet. I feel for you I really do. I was lucky as I had an appointment with a Consultant two weeks after my op and she gave me my results then. I had my op at Sheffield. I believe some ladies on this forum have had quite a wait for their results but I don’t understand why there is such a difference in waiting times between hospitals.
Really hope you hear something soon.
Take care.
Sue. X
Hi Gloria, can your CNS help advise when results may be due or perhaps help follow them up for you?
Hi Vixxx, yes I have been in touch with my CNS and she did get in contact with them last week but they said the final report was not ready yet, I had my opp at a different hospital because they could give me a earlier opp date, so everything had to be sent back to my hospital for analysis , so hopefully I will hear something this week if not I will start pestering them, Gloria X
Hi Sue , I had my opp at Gateshead because they could give me a earlier date so everything has been sent to South tees for analysis My CNS got in touch with them last week but the final report wasn't ready, so I will have to see if I hear anything this week, take care Gloria X
