Hi I’m currently waiting for the results of MRI and a CT scan which I had 3 days ago. I was diagnosed with type 1 adenocarcinoma of the womb lining at end of August. I was wondering do you get told the results? I’m due to have a hysterectomy on 23rd. But since last Friday I’ve been experiencing upper leg and back pain, now my mind has gone into overdrive. I had my pre op assessment yesterday but told nothing about results. I’m terrified it’s spread now. Any help and advice please. Thanks
Hi Barney 45
I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of endometrial cancer. Not too long to wait for the hysterectomy.
I was told the scan results with my diagnosis- took just over a week.
There is no harm though in giving them a call if you have not heard anything by the end of the week.
i wish you well with your surgery.
Jane
Thank you. I have just come off the phone from the lovely nurse I saw at my oncology appointment last week. She personally went to the MDT meeting to find my results and ring me. The scans are showing no further spread, which I am so relieved about, I was so stressed today I couldn’t eat for the worry. My hysterectomy will go ahead all being well on Monday. Funny enough I can’t wait for the op! I bet others know how I feel. Thanks again for your words of encouragement.
Great news that it has not spread.
I felt similar for the op- once I knew I needed it, I just wanted it done. This time next week you should be home recovering. In the meantime, we are here if you need us
Hi Barney 45, I’m glad you’ve had some positive news. I have a suggestion for you - note the day of the week when the nurse phoned you following the MDT, as it may be helpful for you post hysterectomy when you’re waiting for your histology results. The MDT typically happens on the same half day each week; for example my MDT met on a Friday morning and my hysteroscopy results, staging MRI results and post op histology results were all told to me on a late Friday morning immediately after the MDT. My CNS told me that they often have 50 or more results to go through each time!
