Internal cervical stenosis

Hysteroscopy was uncomfortable and gynae report noted internal cervical stenosis.

Still awaiting pathology re new/regrown polyps, but early days

Very nervous about needing more hysteroscopies  – my "best possible outcome"

Anyone else had to deal with stenosis undergoing hysteroscopy without GA?

  • Hi Rose

Sorry, I must have missed this yesterday.

I am sorry that you found the hysteroscopy uncomfortable. Some amount of cervical stenosis is normal in older ladies after the menopause and it can make the procedure more uncomfortable/painful. General anaesthetic can be an option but I have heard of ladies being given a light sedation or a local anaesthetic. It is definitely something worth asking about with your consultant as they will know your full medical history so will be able to advise what could be the best choice for you.

I can understand you feeling nervous about the possibility of repeat hysteroscopies. I hope that your pathology comes back very soon and that a plan can be put in place. I know it is difficult when you have lots of other things going on and I do feel for you at the moment.

  • Hi Jane

No apology needed. You have given me so much support recently.

I was surprised at the stenosis as I'm only about 18 months into menopause. I will bear in mind your very helpful suggestions when I speak with the consultant.

    Thank you again!
