Hello new here

Got my biopsy Thursday really stressed snd worried has getting pelvic and tummy discomfort

Really scared I won't get sny treatment

  • Hi Phleb

    Take a deep breath.

I know it is not easy and on here we have all been where you are now.

It may or may not be cancer and the biopsy is the only way that they can tell for sure. I am glad that it is only a couple of days before it is done, as the waiting and worrying can be tough.

It is natural to worry and have lots of questions about what may happen. I hope that it shows that there is no cancer but if it does, then we will be here to support you. If there is cancer then the  majority of ladies are offered a hysterectomy as the first treatment. What happens after that depends on different things. For ladies that can not have surgery for some reason, then there are other options but all depend on your own personal medical history.

During my time on the Community I have not heard of anyone who has not been offered some sort of treatment or support, so please try not to worry too much at this stage. The main thing is to get the biopsy out of the way. If any cancer is found then the next step would be a CT scan and then an appointment with the doctor to discuss treatment options with you.

I can understand you are feeling stressed and scared and can recommend giving the Support Line a call and talking things through.

I wish you well for Thursday but in the meantime if there is anything you need or want to ask, then please do so.

  • Thankyou for your reply

I'm so worried just think I'm going to die

When I had my ultrasound the sonographer said there was nothing sinister but the consultant said my linning was 14mm and had a polyp and need biopsy so was a bit upset as told her my holiday was overdue for paying as needed to see what was happening she said oh pay and go so did that afternoon

    came out on a high

I'm not sleeping don't feel hungry but enjoy food when I eat it

    Maybe that's the stress

    So scared

    Viv  I'm 63 yrs

  • Hi Viv

The not sleeping or feeling hungry is my experience when I am stressed. I find also that it can effect my tummy- both the anxiety and the not eating properly.

I also tend to panic and think of the worst possible scenario.

At the moment you have a thickened womb lining (hyperplasia) and a polyp. These can both have causes that are not cancer but in these circumstances a biopsy is needed to rule out cancer. They want to rule out the most serious potential causes first and then they can work out what they can do with anything else.

You have done the right thing in getting checked out and hopefully the biopsy results will come back quickly and offer some reassurance. Either way- we are here to support.

  • Hi Jane

Forgot to say my Ca125 was normal but after looking Google it says that you can still have cancer

    Viv

  • Phleb, stop googling! Dr Google should be struck off as often times what is there is either out of date, not applicable or even just plain wrong! And will end up scaring the life out of you! Using Google won’t help you and will make your anxiety worse. Stick to the Macmillan website, this group and other reputable sources like Cancer Research. Try and stick to focussing on what you know right now, not what you imagine might be. It may well not be cancer, but if it is, it’s eminently treatable. All of us on this group are evidence of that.

  • Thsnkyou your reply

I'm just so worried and scared just keep  thinking I've got advanced cancer as I've got pelvic and tummy discomfort

  • It could be a number of things none of which are cancer including IBS or even the stress of worrying! Many women with endometrial cancer have no symptoms at all, so try and distract yourself till you know what’s what. Most endometrial cancers are treatable - the advances in medicine are wonderful - and you don’t even know yet whether you have it! Try and find strength for today and let tomorrow take care of itself.

  • Thankyou your so kind

I lost my Mum in March

Then got Covid 3wks ago the bleed happened the day I was really unwell with covid but recovered after a few days so had a litof stress and now all this

  • Hi Phleb

I would advise staying off google. Your symptoms could have lots of different causes that would be much less serious than cancer. My only symptom was bleeding.

If it does turn out to be cancer then there are many treatments available.

But try to focus on what you actually know- you have a thickened lining and a polyp, they need checking and you are doing that. Once the biopsy results come back, then you will know and will find out what is next.

    I will pop some links.
