So, I took a short-notice cancellation (had offered to go on cancellation list, if helpful, as I live fairly close to hospital), which brought my scan forward to today. I ended up being scanned twice as more experienced technician asked if she could rescan me. Seemed to take a lot of pictures and a lot of whispered discussions about views – they wanted to look to see if edges of things irregular etc. Am hoping it is all okay. Have done some reading and it seems it can be difficult to tell difference between a degenerating fibroid and something much worse. Will need further tests, however. Hopefully, not two hysteroscopies on top of two internal scans... I definitely wasn't expecting to have to be scanned twice today. (They did ask if I minded. What are you meant to say? Felt I had to go along with it.) Has anyone else had to be rescanned re TVS on the day?
Hi Rosalinda
I am glad you got a short notice cancellation appointment. Always worth doing as waiting can be tough.
I am sorry you had to be scanned twice but I suppose it is better they do it then and get all the pictures they need, rather than go home and they call you back. I know when I had mine, although I didn't have 2- it did go on for some time and the radiographer took many pictures- far more than I expected.
I would be very surprised if it meant more than one hysteroscopy- it seems more that they were being ultra careful in getting all the measurements and pictures to go to the consultant to be analysed. Sometimes with our differing anatomy, shapes, sizes they just need to make sure they have the pictures from all directions to show all sides. The hysteroscopy/biopsy would then be the follow up, where they try to get a sample of cells for analysis. So providing they get enough cells, they wouldn't need to re do. If it is a degenerating fibroid- which from my understanding- is one that is at the end of its cycle- then perhaps they would do the biopsy under general as it may need to be removed.
Well done for going- I know you were worried about it.
Jane
