Hi Debashmic
I had a hysterectomy in November last year, before the surgery I had had an mri scan and a ct scan, the scans showed I had a 2 cm mass on my womb. However, after I had the pathology results, they found 1mm of cancer on my Fallopian tube too. I had to have 4 sessions of chemotherapy and am currently coming to the end of 25 sessions of external beam radiotherapy. I believe I had to have further treatment because the cancer was found in my Fallopian tube as well as my womb.
Even though they said to me that they had removed all the cancer, they use a ‘belt and braces’ approach, just Incase there is a micro cell that has escaped and also to prevent recurrence.
I hope all goes well when you find out what they are going to do to help you and lots of luck. Please let me know how you get on.
Take care
Ange
Hello Debashnic
I hope that you are recovering ok from the surgery.
It must have been hard to hear that they found some cancer on your ovary especially after your scans were clear. Sometimes the cells are just so small that they don't show on scans and that's one reason why the post op pathology is done and is so important. Sounds like they will look in detail at it all at the MDT and then call you in to talk about the options. I had chemo as well and wasn't expecting it so I remember how I felt.
My chemo was 2022 and although it can be hard at times, it was ok and I managed with support and medication for side effects. I am sure you will be well looked after.
if there is anything you need, please do ask
Jane
