Hysterectomy done!

I had my hysterectomy on Thursday and just wanted to share that it has been completed and actually nowhere near as bad as I thought it'd be. I had it done laparoscopically with a robot and while I have had some pain, it's been very manageable. I'm sure there'll be more challenges to come but the operation itself and the immediate recovery has been fine. Hopefully it'll be the same for anyone else with a hysterectomy lined up.

Now just to wait for histology and hope I don't need further treatment.

  • Well done! I had mine in January 2022 and, from what I experienced myself and seeing what others experience here, most of us sail through and wonder why we were worried about it! I had no pain post op, bar a feeling like slightly pulled muscles, and needed no paracetamol once my catheter was out. I’d encourage you to get mobile as soon as possible - I did gentle 5 minute walks a couple of times a day gradually increasing till I was up to 40 minutes or so per day by two weeks post op. Hope your results come through soon - I got mine 13 days post op though I know my hospital are quite hot on that.

  • Hi Lauz9888

I am glad that it went well and you are recovering well.

Fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long for the post op pathology to come back. Mine was about 3 1/2 weeks, but I did keep chasing it.

In the meantime, if there is anything you need, you know where we are.

    Jane
