Hi, I have read through some of your experiences & journeys & think you are all amazing. I found some inspiration & comfort to realise I'm not being dramatic with my concerns at the moment.
So long story short as possible.....Had gyne issue for years, cervical precancer cells removed twice (20 & 30s) then past 5yrs + began regular pain, bloating, clots, heavy prolonged bleeding, bleeding after sex etc, now 50, so told peri menopausal, IBS etc. Pushed back occasionally as was becoming draining & stopping me doing things. Laporoscopy 2021, no endo, but polyps, fibroids & ovarian cysts found. Told not concerning, wait & see. Had colposcopy last year, apparently all OK. Still in pain, new gyne, suggested mirena fitted. 3 months later, still in pain etc, had TVS which come back as Adenomyosis, polyps & displaced mirena. Gyne recommended hysteroscopy & mirena removed.
Chased for 10 months! (Got mirena removed myself via GP after 3 mths) Got another new gynaecologist! (he's fab, came highly recommended) Finally had hysto biopsy, polyps removed & new mirena on 29th Jan. Found procedure fine, was strolling around M&S an hr or so later!
Expected letter in 6 weeks or so. Got a call on 15th Feb to go in on 21st or 28th for 'follow up'. Found it odd but initially shrugged off. Took the latter as have meetings in work on the 21st. Kicking myself now as starting to get really concerned. Found out the hospital oncology clinic is Wednesdays only & the appointment isn't with my gyne but another consultant who is an oncology specialist! No further details from my call to hospital today except my original consultant has a telephone app booked with me for the month after?
Would it be unusual to get results from a different consultant unless they are related to their field of expertise? (My gyne specialises in pelvic/urogynocolgy)
I'm quite pragmatic & realise the diagnosis won't change between now & then but I'd rather know sooner rather than later & prepare myself. Also realise I may be letting my imagination run away with me but it's hard to explain, it's like I know something is different? If that makes sense?
Hi
I got a phone call on weds teatime exactly 2 weeks after hysteroscopy asking me to attend an appointment at the hospital the next day
When I checked it was at gyna oncology so alarm bells started ringing
Think I was in shock for the next 2xweeks and nothing sank in but positively 3 months later after diagnosis hysterectomy and now chemo treatment started things now seem levelled out
I'm feeling really well , positive and can't wait for treatment 5o be finished and start living again xx
Hi Shar58 & thank you for your response and I love your positivity!! Glad to hear your feeling well also, despite what you must be going through!
Patience isn't my biggest strength sadly. I'm more, yup, cancer, got that memo. What's next? How we gonna deal with it.
So waiting another 9 days to find out is hard for me. Though, I suppose if it is bad news, I'm going to have to learn to be a lot more patient, so this may be a learning curve!
Hi Ethalil
Welcome to the Womb group. I am sorry that you have had so much going on.
I can understand your worries and a week can seem a long time to wait.
A follow up after the procedure/tests is normal practice. Sometimes it is done by phone and sometimes it is done at the hospital. Having the appointment at the hospital does not necessarily mean that it is cancer- as you have had a lot happening- it may be that some treatment is needed.
At my hospital the gynae and oncology is all in one place and anyone with any symptoms ( that could link to cancer) is seen in the same unit. It is scary when you see oncology on the letters but at my hospital the unit is set up with the examination couches and the gynae patients are also seen there.
A change in consultant is not unusual and can happen for a variety of reasons, sometimes it just that they are doing the clinic that day- if someone is off. I have seen a variety of consultants during my time. They had specialisms in different areas. One team did the testing. One team sorted surgery. One team dealt with chemo. One team dealt with radiotherapy. I am now back with the gynae oncology team for checks. I have also seen doctors that are in training and getting experience in different areas.
If the original consultant has an appointment booked for a month later then that would seem unusual- I was never referred back to my original consultant once in the oncology system. However sometimes there can be crossovers with appointments.
The only thing I could suggest would be to contact your GP and see if anything has been sent there. Mine would often know things and have reports/letters before I did as they are sent info electronically.
If they have found some cancer then the gynae oncology specialist is the best person to see and they will have the expertise to talk you through what might need to happen. If they have found some cancer then we will be here to support you.
If you are struggling while waiting and feel like chatting things through would help, then please do give the Support Line a call. They are lovely on there.

Hi Jane,
Thank you for the detailed reply. I feel a little calmer to hear a follow-up is routine & not necessarily bad news no matter who it's with.
I found the follow-up call a month later odd too. I'm wondering if he originally initially booked that in after the hysteroscopy, as a follow-up. He certainly gave no indication he thought anything was amiss. Then something was found that changed the parameters & I've been put on a new pathway & that appointment is still on the system?
Anyway, I am going to take on board your advice & contact GP & see I they have any information. If not, I'm going to put on my big girl pants & deal with the not knowing for a few days. I'm lucky in that my local hospital is one of the country's leading women's only. If anything is wrong, at least I can rest assured I'll be in expert hands.
Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me their experience and symtoms, please. I had one episode of extreme pain during my period to the point I felt I was going to faint, dizzy, felt cold etc. Then a month or so later I had one again extremely heavy flow with huge blood clots. I had to change my trousers three times in one hour a pad was useless and the blood just poured. It was very frightening.
Before all this I have been peeing blood almost every month for 1 or 2 days over a period of a year and half and doctors are convinced it's not coming from the same area. I have had multiple urology tests all normal.
I then had an ultrasound that came back with a thickening of the uterine lining and a biopsy was taking the following week, doctor said she suspects cancer but then told me my uterus looked good? I've been waiting 2 and half weeks now on results and as each day passes I am worrying more.
I am 41 and my experience with cancer has not been good. My older brother passed away from lung cancer at 29.
I would like people to be direct with me and I feel that everyone sugar coats things. I would like to know if someone that has been diagnosed had any of my symptoms and please don't worry about me worrying. As I am feeling like no one understands and just brushes my concerns off.
I feel otherwise healthy just fatigued some times but I think that's just life in general.
I know that people can't tell me if I have cancer but I would like some insight into others experience.
Hi Etma
My symptoms were a heavy bleed with clots that came out of the blue. Looking back I can not pin point any other symptoms other than perhaps some tired ness that could well have been related to having covid badly 2 months earlier.
My bleed was in 2022. I had episodes of very heavy periods a few years earlier and was put on the mini pill to control the bleeding. This effectively stopped my periods.
I didn't have any urinary symptoms.
I would say that you know your own body and be guided by that- if something doesn't feel right keep pushing for answers.
I would hope that your endometrial biopsy results should be back very soon.

Thank you so much Jane for your reply! I am sorry for your diagnosis and I hope you are doing well.
My body is telling me something isn't right. I just feel for the last few years I have been in limbo with no clear answers so I do apologise if my post read negative.
I was also told that I don't have fibroids or cysts so i am thinking what else could it be. I am trying to prepare myself for the worst and hopefully I am wrong.
Thank you again much appreciated
Etma
