Hello Ladies
I'm hoping someone may have a little bit of advice for me.
I've been fairly fortunate on this cancer journey & was told I was officially cancer free almost 2 weeks ago.
My problem has only just started and I will be contacting my CNS tomorrow, I've been using the dilators now for almost 4 weeks but today I had some pain on the left hand side of pelvic region, almost directly above my pubic bone. The pain has continued throughout the afternoon and is also present on urinating. I think it may possibly be a UTI but I have no burning sensation or increased frequency. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Hi Grandma03
I am pleased that you are now officially cancer free.
Yes- it is best to contact you CNS tomorrow about the pain. It could well be the start of a UTI. It may also be partly due to using the dilators and your body getting used to you using them and the area being stretched etc. It is also close to your bladder so it may be related.
Best thing to do is to call your CNS in the am and they will be able to offer some reassurance, hopefully organise a urine test and discuss anything to do with the dilators. I did find after radiotherapy my bladder did at times feel irritated, almost like a UTI was going to start but not yet having the other symptoms.
Hope you can get some reassurance tomorrow. In the meantime if anything changes or develops then do give NHS111 a call for some advice. I had UTI's during my cancer treatment and it does help to drink a lot to flush everything through.
