Does this show up in a full blood count ? Which is done in hospital before you leave

my fbc was all normal so am I to think it was all ok

  • Hi, mollysue

The FBC (full blood count) does not include the Ca125. However, if the doctor told you your test results were OK, they probably mean that as well. Why don’t you ask your cancer nurse specialist to clarify the results for you.

  • Hi mollysue,

CA125 is a separate one. They normally monitor it in endometrial cancer as it is a helpful marker. Full blood count is normally done at the same time- so you may notice when they take your bloods they use 2/3 different tubes. This is so the blood can be tested for different things.

If your FBC was ok that sounds reassuring. Maybe ask your CNS for some reassurance. Hope you are feeling ok now you are back home and are recovering well.

  • My nurse confirmed a fbc would have been everything and advised normal by my gyno and she told me they were all normal when she came round to hosp next day and discharged me Fingers crossed

  • Jane all Lsvi I thought if mri showed modes all normal and nothing done o these in op  it was ok ? Now concerned about this Lsvi

  • Lymph nodes and LVSI are different things. LVSI can only be checked for in histology, so unfortunately you will just need to wait till your results appointment to find out.

  • Try not to worry too much about the finer details - concentrate on recovering from the op. LVSI can only be confirmed with the post op pathology- they can not be predicted before.

LVSI is different to the lymph nodes. LVSI are too small to be seen on any scan.

Lymph nodes can be seen on the MRI scans.

I know it is hard to wait for the results but worrying is not going to change them. Focus on taking things easy after your op, keep up with the short walks and fingers crossed your post op pathology will come back soon. Once this is back they will talk to you about what it means and whether you need any further treatment.

  • Where so they see Lsvi in a blood test after op please?

  • Mollysue it’s in the histology of what is removed in the hysterectomy - everything goes to the lab.

  • No its not a blood test. Everything that is removed from your body during surgery is examined in the pathology lab and that is where they will be able to see LVSI and the extent of them.
