Getting more and more anxious each day I get nearer to my hysterectomy

every day I'm a bag of nerves and the day is getting nearer

not eating really nor sleeping

maybe I should call my navigator nurse as goodness knows what I'll be like the morning of the operation

I just trying to say it will take the cancer out so one positive thought

anyone else deel like this please at this stage ( haven't had surgery gefite)  and we're  scared but it wasn't as bad after all

  • Meant have not had surgery

  • Morning.

I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago (not due to cancer) I was only 32 and the opp was fine. You do have to go careful not to lift anything heavy for 6 week or drive.

I have sigmoid colon cancer at 38 was diagnosed in November and I am dreading my surgery.

I am so anxious about it. i no inwill be a state on the day but like you I no it will get rid of the tumor, it is the most scariest thing I have ever had to go though and having to tell my 3 kids was hard.

Just keep eating little and often and Stay a positive as you can. Good luck you have got this.

  • Hi mollysue

Have you got your operation date yet? I found that just thinking about the day ahead helped rather than focusing on the operation itself. Each day before the op I made a list of things to do to keep my mind occupied and tried to keep to it. The operation will be fine, everyone’s experience is slightly different but you will be ok! Keep positive, look forward to something after the op, I see you had a cruise booked are you still going? If not have a look to see where you fancy going next.

    Big hugs

    Linda

  • Thanks Linda

    yes it's so hard

we have a cruise booked 12 weeks after operation ( Monday 15 th Jan) so Hoping we can go and just chill each day

    drive to port one hour

    Thankyou xx

  • Lovely I love cruising where are you going? Xxx

  • From southampton to canary’s hopefully

  • I felt very much the same and very nervous but it was nothing as bad as I feared. It is good that you are trying to remain positive and talking to your CNS is a good idea. They can then offer you some extra reassurance before, during and after your op.

Also do give the Support Line a call and speak to one of the nurses. They can talk you through everything and they are really nice on there.

I know that it feels hard and you are full of worries but in 2 weeks time it will be done and hopefully you will be at home recovering. Cross off the days on the calendar- I did.

And you have that cruise to look forward to as well- how exciting
