Strange taste

I haven't had any form of treatment yet, and was only diagnosed last week. I still do not have an official stage, but results from my CT scan showed no spread.

I haven't had many major symptoms leading up to the diagnosis just very heavy and sometimes painful periods (I'm 43 so haven't gone through the menopause yet).

Since my diagnosis I have been getting a strange taste in my mouth. Its almost every day. I don't know if it's a symptom caused by the CT and MRI I has last week from the contrast or maybe even a symptoms of anxiety.

Obviously I am now over thinking every twinge ache and pain and just wondered if anyone else experienced a strange taste after diagnosis?

Thanks

  • Hello Sots

I was warned that altered taste for a few days- a metallic taste in mouth could be a side effect of the iodine contrast used in the scans.

Might be worth mentioning to your doctor so that it is noted. I actually had a reaction to the contrast used and now have to have scans without it. Mine was a bad skin reaction. I can't remember about whether my own taste was affected but I can remember it being mentioned.

Maybe give the Support Line a call and speak to one of the nurses who would be able to confirm this for you and give you advice as to whether there is anything that would help. During chemo I had a metallic taste and flat lemonade helped with that- it was the sharpness.
