Following surgery on Monday, I still have a strange sensation on the outside of my left hip/though, almost like a numbness. It is like the sensation of having something bulky in my pocket, but there is nothing there. Did anyone else get anything similar?
Hello B74
I had a numbness on the outside of my left hip and thigh which was also periodically painful. It has lessened as the weeks have gone on (nearly 5 weeks post op). I read somewhere it was probably due to the position we are in for surgery, and the nerves getting compressed a bit. It has largely resolved now, just a fraction of what it was.
Check with your Macmillan nurse to discuss it and hopefully it will settle like mine is.
Hi B74
Hope you are recovering ok at home. I did have a few odd sensations/ stiffness/achiness for the first couple of weeks after my hysterectomy. I also had headaches. My consultant said to me at the time it was likely caused by the position that the surgery is done in- head down and just the actual physical impact of being in the same position while being operated on. He Also said that although with key hole there is less trauma on the outside- there is still an awful lot that is done on the inside.
I think this is worth mentioning to your CNS as your surgery is so recent, but hopefully they will be able to reassure you. I wonder if it is due to swelling on the inside pressing on a nerve or similar? I felt a lot better by the second week when I started moving around a bit more.
