Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone could help me.I had a rather long withdrawal bleed after coming off hrt which led me to have a scan which showed a polyp.I ended up going private for hysteroscopy as to cut waiting time.Hysteroscopy showed no polyp and very thin lining all positive. He also did a biopsy which as I know is the only way to tell if any cancer or not it’s been a week now if it’s bad news will they still write or will they call.Had a very wobbly tearful day today all the waiting is really getting to me now
Honestly it’s pot luck with biopsy results…I’ve had 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 6 weeks and 5 weeks and a few in between..the waiting is awful..I’m currently waiting for biopsy results from my hysterectomy..I’m aiming for 6 weeks before I start getting stressed this time. I hope you don’t have to wait too long and that the results are all good x
How you get results depends a lot on the consultant …I’ve had results over the phone, by email, letter and in person…all from the same hospital!
Thank you for your reply.Just having a bad day today been having problems since July and still no diagnosis or given the all clear just find it all consuming the anxiety of waiting
Mines been going in since January! Although they did find polyps, one of which showed atypical hyperplasia (precancerous cells) recommended treatment is a hysterectomy, originally planned for June but sent home due to high blood sugar, rearranged for September and had it 2 weeks ago today….high chance of cancer still being found once womb biopsied after hysterectomy so that’s what I’m waiting to find out…hoping I’m in the 60% that don’t show cancer rather than the 40% that do!
Hello Daisy
It is always a worry while you are waiting for the results and I am sure most of the ladies on here will understand. There seems to be a big variation from hospital to hospital about when the results come through and how they come through. My biopsy results took less than a week, whereas my post op results took almost a month. I am not sure whether it being done privately would mean the results would be quicker. I suppose it still depends on the lab and how busy it is.
When you had the hysteroscopy did they give you any idea when to expect the results and did they ask you how you prefer to be told? I opted for a phone call for both of mine as I felt it would be a couple of days quicker than the post but also it gave an opportunity to talk to the person who was giving me the results. I preferred to be told at home and was happy with this.
Why not give the hospital a call tomorrow if you haven't heard- and just ask if the results are back yet or when they may be. You can also then ask about how you will be told and express a preference. I am sure they will not mind. It is totally understandable that you are feeling as you are.
I hope that you have some positive news soon.
Jane
Thank you for your reply I hope you are recovering well after your op and I hope you get some positive news soon
I had a check up appointment last Tuesday and a standard letter took until today to arrive from the NHS. 7-10 days sounds like it is hopeful that you should hear something by the weekend. Perhaps give them a call anyway rather than worry about it- even if they can just give you a call to tell you a letter is on its way. Good luck
Hi I feel just the same, I had a hysteroscopy last Tuesday under general anaesthetic they fitted a mirena coil & did a biopsy. The wait is horrendous, so stressful. I take the advice from lovely ladies on here, I will ring the hospital tomorrow as they didn’t tell me how they would notify me & I forgot to ask at the hospital last week. Good luck take care & here’s hoping for some good news.
Hi I have 2 small ovarian cysts & a thickened lining. The cysts have been there a few years . I have been on hrt for 30 years I went through an early menopause so I have now got a thickened endometrium. Occasionally I struggle with period type pains, cramping. I am 66 I don’t know whether the age makes a difference.
I go through periods of terrible stress I am really not looking forward to my biopsy result. Let me know how you get on . How old are you? I hope you don’t mind me asking.
