I had a call from my CNS I could wait until next Thursday's appointment to tell me results or she could tell me. I opted or that rather than worry for another week. Initially I was diagnosed with Carcinoma Sarcoma, this has now changed to a very very rare form of cancer. I had a yolk sac tumour which is a germ cell ovarian cancer. Advised not to google so I won't. It has to be discussed at either Leeds or Sheffield as it is so rare. (I live in Hull). I will need chemo. Good news is it is still stage 1b and all lymph nodes are clear. I am relieved to be just moving forward. Another worry is my right groin/leg which is very painful ongoing since hysteroscopy and thought to be positioning in stirrups. GP now ordered ultrasound and hip xray with a blood test for Myeloma.
Have I been so unlucky as to have 2 different types of cancer at the same time. I just don't know. CNS mentioned this to Consultant and she wasn't convinced so I hope it is ligament or nerve damage. Must admit I have been very down mainly because of the leg pain. No option but to carry on and hope for the best.
Hello JKg
Am glad that you have had your results back and that you don't have to wait another week for them.
It is good news that it is stage 1b and your lymph nodes are clear. I hope that you will be able to start your chemo soon and get it out of the way. I was stage1b and had chemo last year from May- August. If you have any questions please do ask.
I am sorry that your groin/leg are still so painful but it is good that the GP has ordered the ultrasound/x ray and blood test to check things out. Hopefully it will give some reassurance that it is ligament/nerve problems. It is understandable that you feel down at the moment. You have recently had the diagnosis, then the surgery, then the wait for results and being in pain with your leg/hip is an extra worry.
Staying away from google is always a good idea- a lot of the information is out of date or just inaccurate. I hope that you have a good CNS who is supporting you. If you feel chatting things through with someone would help, then please consider calling the Support Line- the number is below.
Hope this helps a bit but if you need anything else please just ask. I remember when I got my post op results back and knew I needed further treatment- it was a very up and down time.
Jane
