Hi
ive recently had the diagnosis and awaiting operation on the 20th, would be happy for any information on what to expect, operation is abdominal and removing everything, following up with chemo and radiotherapy possibly due to a small spot on my lung.
Hello Thenurseryisgoing,
Welcome to the Online Community. I hope that you find it as supportive and informative as I have done.
I am sorry to see that you have had a womb cancer diagnosis and can remember how I felt when I was first diagnosed. If you click on my name my profile will come up, but I was diagnosed last year, had a hysterectomy, followed by chemotherapy and then 5 weeks of external beam radiotherapy.
It is good that you do not have to wait too long for the surgery. My hysterectomy was straightforward, I was home the following day with little pain. My post op pathology came back showing that I needed further treatment. My treatment ended almost a year ago.
If there is anything that you want to ask about any of the treatments or anything else, then please do. There are many lovely ladies on here who will want to offer you support.
In the mean time I will pop a couple of links below to some information that I found helpful.

I hope that you are getting the support that you need from your hospital but if you ever feel that chatting to someone would help, then I can recommend the Support Line. The number and details are below.
Hope this helps a bit

Hi
I had a full hysterectomy on 12 August. I had a vertical cut. I was scared going into surgery and the 12 hours after were mostly spent sleeping. I had good pain relief, a spinal block and then a little button to press when I needed another shot of morphine. Out of bed the next day sitting in a chair. Day 2 I had catheter removed and could walk to the toilet without much trouble. Still recovering and having the odd stabbing pain which my CNS tells me is just everything settling and knitting together again. Please ask if there is anything specific you would like to know.

Update - well the nursery is gone! The operation was abdominal up and down incision, quite a big one at that, but I'm pleased to say everything went well. I'm now 16 days post op and recovering slowly at home. Chemo is next on the agenda and I'm not looking forward to what brings me. Take care everyone
Hi- just saw your other update. Try not to worry too much about the chemo. I had it last year and it wasn't anything like I was fearing it would be. There can be low times but it is doable. I found although I did get some side effects, most where managed with medication and I didn't get the majority of the long list of possibilities. I am sure you will be well looked after and supported by your team.
