Hello Daisy21
Welcome to the Online Community.
I am sorry to hear that you have had a bleed and that the scan showed a polyp. I can remember how scared I felt when I had my scan and it showed a problem. The waiting is really hard and I actually felt better once I knew for sure what was going on and what I needed to do. It sort of gave me a bit of control in the situation. The not knowing, I found really hard.
The thing to remember I suppose is that not all bleeding is cancer and not all polyps are cancer. There could be other reasons. Do you think it may be worth going back to your GP and speaking about the wait for the hysteroscopy and to make sure you are on the urgent list and not the routine list? I wonder if they may be able to bring it forward for you or even to put you on a short notice cancellation list to possibly get it done more quickly?
In the meantime, if you feel talking it through with someone would help then please give the Support Line a call. The number is below and they are lovely on there.
Hope this helps a bit, but if there is anything else you need, please do ask.
Jane
It's worth a try.
My GP was able to intervene for me by contacting the hospital on an internal line. I contacted my GP on one of those Online consultations on a Thursday am. Got a response 2 hours later. Appointment at the hospital the following day. Saw the consultant on the Friday am. Pre op checks were done on the Friday pm. Covid test on the Sunday. Surgery on the Monday and home recovering on the Tuesday.
Fingers crossed yours can help.
Jane
Hi Daisy
waiting is definitely the worse part and as said not all bleeding is sinister and not all polyps cancer. In fact my gynaecologist said that most often they are not but they have to be tested to make sure. Mine was though after surgery and radiotherapy I received the all clear.
Definitely ring your GP and get timing sorted out. Do express your anxiety and being unable to eat and sleep.
It sounds as if there’s been a mix up between the urgent and regular list. There’s a few hoops to jump through before the hysteroscopy like pre-op checks and then a wait for results. Waiting I am afraid is part of the challenge. Still, we are here for you as is MacMillan support.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
