Hello to everyone. I got some great advice earlier in the week with my first post. I am wondering if anyone can tell me if they have or had slight discharge or sometimes very slight bleed only barely marking my pad at this stage of post op. It comes and goes, earlier in week it stopped and I thought that would be it but there a slight mark there again. Does this go on for a while afterwards. I hardly had any bleed straight after the operation. So find it strange that at this latter stage of healing it comes and goes.
I did talk to the cancer nurse about it and she said it can happen during recovery up to 6 weeks I’m nearing 6 weeks and wondered if anyone else had similar. At first I thought was it a sign I was doing a bit too much. If it continues after the 6 weeks I will contact my gp. Thanks for your help
Hi Rosie, another vote here for it being likely that you’re overdoing things a bit. When we start feeling better the temptation is to do a bit more than we should - whether it’s lifting something heavier than a mug of coffee (eg a full kettle, full saucepans, tray of food, bag of shopping), standing for too long, vacuuming, not resting enough.
I recall having this kind of conversation with my Macmillan nurse about not even doing laundry. I had to bring bits and pieces downstairs rather than fill up a bag. Saucepans, kettles, grocery shopping all no-nos. I was lucky enough to be able to schedule my grocery deliveries for those few weeks when a friend was over so she could do the lifting. Even after I made sure that it was divided over lots of bags.
The nurse was happy with my plans and shared that some enthusiastic patients were trying to get back to the gym for workouts way too soon and she had to impress upon them that it was counterproductive to their recovery.
Hello Rosie63
I am glad that you found the advice you were given last week helpful.
I didn't have any discharge or bleeding after my op but was told that this could happen if I did too much too soon. I wonder also if it may be due to any internal stitches dissolving/pulling. My CNS did mention this can happen. Your best bet is to mention it to your CNS and they should be able to give you some reassurance and then if there is any concern they can get you checked.

That’s so true as I am feeling so good and get frustrated as I am a very active person. Maybe I have done a bit too much too soon, I am doing a bit more than I was but my husband does most of the things. Thank you
