Hello All. Had a very good session with the oncologist this afternoon and found out a bit more about the histology of my tumour. Apparently, although I was borderline for treatment, the genetic make up of my tumour and protein within, makes me high risk, about 30%, for recurrence, so I no longer have a dilemma and will go ahead with both treatments, as it's the only sensible option. I wish I had known the high chance of recurrence 2 weeks ago, as it would have saved me many sleepless nights, but now I know, that I have no choice, it's quite a relief and I will just move forward and get on with it!
Hello Love to walk
I am glad that you had a good session with your oncologist and that he was able to help you decide that the follow up treatment is the best plan. This time last year I had just started my follow up treatment and it does feel like so much is ahead but step by step you will do it. I tried to break it down and focus on one chemo cycle at a time and didn't even think too much about the radiotherapy until chemo was over. Otherwise it felt too overwhelming. Treatment was challenging but manageable and am now doing ok.
Do you know what your follow up treatment will be yet? I had carboplatin and paclitaxel followed by 25 sessions of external beam radiotherapy.
I wish you luck with your treatment and we will be here to support you through it. Please do ask if you have any questions or worries about it, there will be someone here who has been there
Jane
I will have my 25 sessions of radiotherapy first, starting next month followed by 4 sessions of chemo about 5 weeks after completion of radiotherapy, so should all be done by late November. Having the same chemo drugs as you. Thank you Jane. So appreciate your support.x
That's good that you have a couple of weeks to prepare to to enjoy the sun. When I look back at the radiotherapy it was the tiredness and dodgy tummy that affected me most but I was well looked after and I am sure you will be too. If there is anything that you need to ask please do not be afraid to do so.
Jane
Hi Love to Walk-as you can see by my name I also love walking! I was also diagnosed with high grade serous-stage 1a. I didn’t need to have radiotherapy but I did have chemotherapy-click on my user name to read my profile if you would like to. Hope all goes well with your treatments. xx
