Hello

i was due to have my vagina and bladder removed tomorrow but surgery has been cancelled as the tumour in my vagina has grown too much. Just wondered what other treatments people have had or having for recurrence. I’ve already had rads so that’s not an option. Had chemo last summer, before the recurrence.

  • Good Morning Suewoo,

I am sorry to see that your surgery has been cancelled.

It must be hard when you were expecting it to happen and then to be told it can't be done. I do hope that you get to see your consultant quickly to discuss what happens now.

When I finished my radiotherapy I did ask about what would happen if I had a recurrence.

I was told the possibilities could be surgery, more chemotherapy- either the same type (Carboplatin/Paclitaxol) or an alternative and that sometimes immunotherapy could be an option. She also said sometimes it could be chemotherapy first to shrink any new growth to make surgery an option. I was told no more radiotherapy to my pelvis, although I could have it to other areas.

She said she couldn't really say for definite as it would depend on the circumstances at the time, where exactly the recurrence happened and general health etc. She also mentioned that sometimes people could be offered trials.

If you want to find out about other peoples treatments for recurrence- you can type recurrence in the search bar at the top of the Womb cancer forum and it will take you to other people's posts to find out a bit more.

I hope this may help a bit

    Jane
