47 here - peri-menopause with erratic periods for the past year... but then I started bleeding like a heavy period with cramping (5 weeks and counting). Saw my OB/GYN at week 4 - had a transvaginal ultrasound showing 18.7 thickness and a 4.7 cyst on my left ovary. Scheduled for a D&C and hysteroscopy on March 31. Super stressed - hoping there is something else it could be besides cancer. Dr started me on Provera for 10 days (I guess in hopes to stop the bleeding) - bleeding lightened for about 2 days and then back to full bleeding with cramping. The wait is frustrating!
Hi eeyore I’m pretty much same boat as you 9.7 post menopause my scan was private so no conversations booked for nhs one Monday petrified ! I’ve been spotting on and off on HRT for a few years if I’m honest with no concern as thought normal ! No masses detected but terrified as I’m sure you are I’m 57. Stopped HRT a week ago and now full on bleed since then
I'm older than you (61) and so I was referred by my GP within the 2 week wait system. Over the past 8 weeks I have had two hysteroscopies, ultrasound and tvs scan, two CA125 blood tests and biopsies of a large polyp and the womb lining and I was fitted with a mirena coil.
I saw the consultant last week and, although the biopsy of the polyp was clear there is an area of change in the womb lining which needs to be watched. However his advice is to allow the coil to do its job and to have a further biopsy in three months time.
The bleeding I had was from the polyp which, although very large, was benign.
The polyp showed up on the scan but I am not sure if it was the TVS or the external scan - it was particularly huge though apparently,
I'm happy with waiting three months because I have the option of a hysterectomy. My plan is to see if the coil is treating it and if not or if there is no change then I will opt for the op.
None of the polyps I had last time. (3) were seen ion the ultrasound, and the 2 this time weren’t either..all picked up during hysteroscopy and biopsy of womb lining..I’m still waiting for a date for them to remove the 2 they found recently, some some reason they removed me from urgent list because the womb biopsy was normal. After I complained they’ve put me back on the urgent list so I’m hoping I won’t have to wait too much longer..I’m postmenopausal
Thank you for sharing. Glad to hear you asked about the urgent list - many good thoughts they get you back on the priority list.
