Hi everyone, just a quick update to say my robotic hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo oophoremectomy (ovaries and fallopian tube removal), sentinal node and ometum biopsies went ahead as planned on Tuesday 28th Feb. I stayed in one night and am now at home recovering with that dreadful three week wait see what they've found. Glad this part is done though x
Hi Saz, well done for having your op and glad you’re making progress! I’m glad you’re getting out and walking - just making sure that your little dog is either off lead on walks or that it’s not you holding the lead? As holding a dog lead is something that it’s best to avoid for a few weeks afterwards.
Dear Muse, I’ve just seen that your surgery was cancelled last week. I’m so sorry, you must have been really upset getting all ready into a gown and then being sent home hours later after all the waiting. I had a few dramas I didn’t share earlier. I hope you don’t mind me sharing now? The operation bed cable was broken so had no power. I had to wait 40 mins while they found a new bed. I didn’t realise I’d be having a spinal anaesthetic like an epidural until I saw the anaesthetist but it went ok. I did get to see the robot which was fascinating. They took three attempts to get the cannula in as my veins are shot from previous chemo. My left arm now is black and blue. I then got left lying in recovery for four hours with no catheter as I was supposed to be going home same day. There was no space on the short stay unit. I was drinking loads and eating but unable to get up. By the time I got to ward my bladder was so full they were worrying about permanent bladder and kidney damage. I asked to stay in and spent the night and whole of Wednesday walking around the ward to get my bladder empty, otherwise they were going to put another catheter in for a week. The final ultrasound at 4pm was low enough so I could go home. On the plus side my surgery went well, the nurses were wonderful and all that walking meant I didn’t need the Nora Batty stockings! I also am walking well around the house and my bladder is back to normal. Lots of love and best wishes for next week I do hope it goes ahead without anymore delays or dramas and we can move forward together in this difficult journey. My daughter is looking after me and says we are warriors xx
