Has anyone had experience of having to have bariatric surgery before a hysterectomy for womb cancer will be granted?
Hi Happy as larry it seems no-one here can offer any experiences so why not phone the Macmillan helpline and ask their advice on 0800 808 0000.
Good luck, Barb

No surgery having to lose weight within 6 months BMI started at 60 now down to 56 taking provera and had Mirena Coil put in 5 th January 2023 once second consultant had a greater skill set with bigger women and got the cancerous polyp out the first surgeon was rubbish I am pritie sure he was the first person I met for the biopsy and he couldn't manage that either, my faith lies with a female consultant who phoned me after the day surgery and said she was gutted about the polyp being left in and she would give it a go in her lunch time but I would be awake.
Hi I was told I had to have Bariatric surgery before they can do a hysterectomy but I did not want to go down that road so I've had the coil put in and I've been given Saxenda injection for weight lose so far I'm up to losing nearly 4 stone, the doctor said the hormone therapy is doing its job at the moment my cancer has not grown or spread since I was diagnosed in January 2022, when I had my coil put in they put me asleep to see how I went they said I was fine until the tipped me and my weight the affected my breathing, I last saw my doctor back in December and he said they would like me to lose another 2/3 stone before they would consider the surgery, I'm under Guy's hospital in London but my doctor did say there is another hospital in London that would operate on me at the size I am at the moment if things started to get better. I hope this helps you, just ask me if you need anymore information
Linda
