I'm awaiting biopsy results for uterine cancetr and would like to know the types of grades and treatments? How likely will I be treated by Chemo, whic
Hi Diana, and welcome to the group - there are many here who have been or are still on this roller coaster ride (which mostly consists of waiting for the next car to come along!) and we support each other. The first thing I’d say to you is DON’T GOOGLE. Dr. Google should be struck off lol as he/she will likely scare you to death with his/her outdated info or stuff that doesn’t apply to your situation. Macmillan is a super resource, not just a forum and there’s lots of links you can check out. Have you had a hysteroscopy? If so, when the results come in they may tell you a predicted grade, and may then want you to have a scan (I had an MRI, others have had CTs), and possibly a chest X Ray, so that they can predict the stage. It is only a prediction though as the full grade and stage won’t be known till after your hysterectomy and histology from that.
Here’s a link to what Macmillan says about stages and grades https://www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/womb-cancer/womb-cancer-stages
Whatever treatment may be offered will depend very much on your own situation and your own medical team/hospital, so we can’t really generalise. For me I was diagnosed this time last year. Post hysteroscopy I was told predicted grade 1 stage 1a. Post hysterectomy (January 2022) histology showed still grade 1 but revised to a (technical) stage 2 as a few cells had been found on top of my cervix, I was then recommended radiotherapy and brachytherapy to cover any cells which might have been in my lymphatic system. I finished that treatment mid May this year.
You’ve had a big shock and it’s scary and I feel for you. But we are here to support you and you can do this, Have you been put in contact yet with your CNS (specialist cancer nurses who are there to support you Mon-Fri during office hours)?
Hi DiAnA
Welcome to the group. iam sorry that you have found yourself here with us but you have come to the right place to get support and advice from this lovely group of ladies who know what it feels like to be in your position.
It's a very stressful time waiting for results as we all know from firsthand experience. If you click on any of our names in green you can read our bios which tells you a bit about this chapter of our lives. If you feel like you would like to do the same and tell us as much or as little about yourself as you wish.
We are all here for you, ask anything, there's never a silly question and there is always someone who has had a similar experience or can at least point you in the right direction to get expert advice.
MarmiteFan has kindly put the link to the cancer grades that you have requested. .Do you mind me asking? have you been told that you definitely have cancer DiAnA or have they taken a biopsy to determine if this is the case and you are waiting for the results?
Hugs Robin xxx
